WiS Meeting Minutes – March 7, 2020

Prompt: Write a story in which the weather is a character or a main part of the plot (20 min.)

Business:

  1. Haiku: Andrea prepared a poster with photographs and haiku poems from Erica, Jadi, Ellen, Katharine and Harish for DAZ to display during the St Louis – Stuttgart Sister Cities Exhibition at the DAZ (April – June 2020).
  2. Reminder:  We will have our annual Business meeting after our regular writers’ group meeting on 25 April, from 12:30pm to 2:00pm. Bring a potluck snack to share. Everyone should please plan to attend this meeting.
  3. Potential new member: Ayo Fatunda attended and took part in the meeting. Ayo is 23, writes poetry, screenplays, short stories, sci fi/fantasy, and essays. In short, she would be a good fit for our group. Her sample work has been sent to the vetting committee for approval.
  4. New member: Sabine Marschner has been approved and I invited her to join us.

Critiques:

  1. Jadi: Cardinal Rules, a Class Night at an elementary school.
  2. Michael: The Twelve Aspects of Love, non-fiction meditations on our most complex emotion.
  3. Erica: Haikus for the Sister Cities’ event, and from her own life.
  4. Katharine: Two haikus and several untitled (dated) sky poems.
  5. Ayo: A poem about a very personal Song of Myself.
